Built for the career. Not just the credential.
WVW Academy's CHW Certification Training Program is built on the belief that the best community health workers are those who understand systems, sustainability, and themselves. Psychological safety and burnout prevention are required core modules — not electives. We train Community Health Workers who are equipped to serve their communities and sustain themselves across an entire career.
This is a group cohort, running Morning and Evening tracks. 25 students per track. You will know your cohort by name. You will be held to a high standard — and supported in meeting it.

Application process

Apply to Cohort 1. Applications are open now. Submit the Cohort 1 application on the right — the program starts August 4.

Complete your full application. Include a brief motivation statement. Seats are limited to 25 per track, so early applications are encouraged.

Receive an admission decision. Every application is personally reviewed. Decisions are released within 5 business days.

Confirm enrollment & attend orientation. Accepted students confirm with a $250 deposit and receive orientation details for the August 4 launch, including Morning or Evening track assignment.
Eligibility
Who can apply:
✓ 18 years of age or older
✓ High school diploma or GED equivalent
✓ Interest in community health, human services, or public health
✓ No prior CHW experience required
✓ Ability to attend sessions in Capitol Heights, MD (hybrid options available)
✓ Open to learners nationwide — contact us about remote accommodations
What joining the Cohort 2 waitlist means

Early access. Waitlist members receive the application invitation 24–48 hours before the public.

Not a guarantee. The waitlist is not a seat hold. Admission is selective and essay-based.

Real review. Every application is read personally. Decisions are released within 5 business days of the application deadline.

$250 deposit holds your seat once accepted. All tuition must be paid in full by the end of Week 2 of class.
Cohort policy: This program runs as a group. A minimum number of students must be enrolled for each cohort to open. If minimum enrollment is not met, registered students are moved to the next available cohort — deposits and payments are fully protected and applied forward.

Cohort 1 starts August 4 — apply on the right while seats remain. Cohort 2 launches January 2027; join the Cohort 2 waitlist to be the first to know when its applications open.
