About the program

WVW Academy's CHW Certification Training Program is built on the belief that the best community health workers are those who understand systems, sustainability, and themselves. Psychological safety and burnout prevention are required core modules — not electives. We train Community Health Workers who are equipped to serve their communities and sustain themselves across an entire career.
This is a group cohort, running Morning and Evening tracks. 25 students per track. You will know your cohort by name. You will be held to a high standard — and supported in meeting it.

Application process

Join the Cohort 2 waitlist. Submit the waitlist form on the right. Waitlist members get application access ahead of the public.

Submit your application. Complete the full application — including a brief motivation statement — when the Cohort 2 window opens. Exact dates will be announced to the waitlist first.

Receive an admission decision. Every application is personally reviewed. Decisions are released within 5 business days of the deadline.

Confirm enrollment & attend orientation. Accepted students confirm with a $250 deposit and receive orientation details for the January 2027 launch, including Morning or Evening track assignment.

Who can apply:

✓ High school diploma or GED equivalent
✓ Interest in community health, human services, or public health
✓ No prior CHW experience required
✓ Ability to attend sessions in Capitol Heights, MD (hybrid options available)

What joining the waitlist means

Early access. Waitlist members receive the application invitation 24–48 hours before the public.

Not a guarantee. The waitlist is not a seat hold. Admission is selective and essay-based.

Real review. Every application is read personally. Decisions are released within 5 business days of the application deadline.

$250 deposit holds your seat once accepted. All tuition must be paid in full by the end of Week 2 of class.
Cohort policy: This program runs as a group. A minimum number of students must be enrolled for each cohort to open. If minimum enrollment is not met, registered students are moved to the next available cohort — deposits and payments are fully protected and applied forward.
